The weekend of May 24-26, 2008, saw the Real 89 Boys set a new standard for the club with their 6th consecutive USYS Hawaii State Cup championship. They have won this title every year since U/14.
At the Far West Regional hosted by HYSA and held at the Waipio Soccer Complex June 16-22, 2008, the 89 Boys made it to the semi-finals and lost a heated but close decision to Colorado Rush. To get there, they posted a big win over Sereno AZ 1-0, received a forfeit from the WA entrant and beat a game Breakers team from CN 4-2. Coming out of their pool in first place, the AZ wildcard Cisco Potros gave Real a tough match taking it into PK's with Real coming out on top, 3-2 in the quarter-finals. The Sereno team that Real had beaten in pool play came out the eventual champions. Congratulations to Real 89 Boys and Coach Jon Haole. You have set the bar very high for our upcoming youth teams.

| Youth Soccer Club Merger Between Real Hawaii and Hawaii Rush
|
|
|
| Real Hawaii Futbol Club and Hawaii Rush Soccer Club are pleased to announce a merger of the two Hawaii soccer clubs, effective June 1, 2008. This partnership brings together the talents and resources of both organizations to create Hawaii’s largest soccer club.
The new club will be known as Real Hawaii Rush Soccer Club.
Real Hawaii brings many years of expertise of soccer in the islands and knowledge of the local player and family. Hawaii Rush has mainland ties that can help propagate in Hawaii the same development trends for Hawaii players occurring in the national soccer scene faster than being independent clubs in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. By bringing all this together, Real Hawaii Rush will provide players expanded training both with teams and individually; mainland opportunities for players and teams; experienced coaching staff who will learn from each other and work together to help the players improve; and, a club structure and an atmosphere that will promote positive growth and competition.
“By combining our local resources and with the support from Rush Soccer, we are trying to create an ideal environment for developing youth players in Hawaii and keeping up with mainland standards. The staff and the coaches will have more support and the players will be exposed to more opportunities,” said Arian Hoxha, Technical Director of Hawaii Rush Soccer Club.
Real Hawaii Rush Soccer Club will be a member of Rush Soccer, representing 21 states and over 33,000 youth soccer players nationwide. Rush Soccer's primary objective is to develop a national level club cooperative system that offers substantial opportunities for national corporate sponsorship and foundation support, provides the framework for a national coach and player development network, and will serve a significant centralized pool of talent for consideration by European, MLS,
NCAA, US National and Olympic soccer programs.
The synergy created from this consolidation will increase the opportunities for hundreds of our local youth and change the future landscape of soccer in Hawaii.
Mahalo,
Sean Richardson

| 92 Copa Girls Capture USYS Hawaii State Cup
|
|
|

The weekend of April 19-20 marked the reemergence of the Real Copa 92 Girls as they won the USYS Hawaii State Cup, U/16 girls division trophy. Although winning the HYSA State Championship last year, the USYS Hawaii State Cup has eluded them and Director of Coaching, Sean Richardson, since U/13 and they won it in dramatic fashion. Trailing the HSC Bulls 92G 2-0, they made a miraculous comeback to tie it late in the game. The difference came in the scoring against common opponents Hawaii Rush 92G and Leahi 92G. They will represent Real Hawaii Futbol Club as well as Hawaii in the upcoming Far West Regional to be hosted by the Hawaii Youth Soccer Association at the Waipio Soccer Complex, June 16-22, 2008. Winning a wild card bid and also representing RHFC at FWR is the 91 Copa Girls. Congratulations to both teams.

RHFC Supports the PPC
On Saturday, February 23, 2008, over 260 RHFC players, parents and coaches were at Aloha Stadium to witness the first and hopefully not last, Pan Pacific Championship finals. For many of the younger players and their parents, it was their first opportunity to see world class futbol in person. The evening started with a huge tailgate in the southeast parking lot which included lots of food, refreshments, laughing and even a soccer match utilizing a parking lot lane for a pitch. We saw a competitive 3rd place match with the LA Galaxy scoring early on a cross by David Beckham within 3 minutes as well as the winning assist at the 44th minute. The game ended with a 2-1 decision for the LA Galaxy against the Sydney FC.
In the championship game, which featured Gamba Osaka against the Houston Dynamo, we were treated to a dazzling scoring display put on by Gamba's Bare who scored 4 goals in a 6-1 shellacking. Although Landon Donovan (LA) and Dwayne De Rosario (Hous) did not play due to injuries, Gamba also had 6 starters missing due to obligations to the Japanese National Team but their speed and ball control couldn't be dealt with on this night. Craig "Waibs" Waibel
#16 Craig "Waibs" Waibel, defender for the Houston Dynamo and here for the Pan Pacific Championships, spent some time on Friday, February 22, 2008, at a Real practice to impart some of his knowledge about the "Beautiful Game". "Waibs" is in the back row with the white Puma cap. The lucky players are from the 95G, 94G, 97B, 96B and 95B teams. On Saturday, February 23, 2008, over 260 Real players and parents were together in the South End Zone cheering on their favorite teams and players.

| 2007 Thanksgiving Tournament Two from Real win, 00G and 95G
00B Finalists
The tradition of gathering at Thanksgiving to reflect upon the good fortune bestowed upon us during the year past continued
through the weekend of November 23-25 for the 95 girls. Through a fortuitous coin flip, they won a berth in the Championship
game but showed that they deserved the honor by defeating Ha'aheo-Kauai 2-1 in the U/13 division. In four games during pool play,
the 95 girls scored 12 goals with only 2 against. Meanwhile, the 00 girls earned their Championship having the best record/points
in their age group, U/8. In four games, they scored an incredible 21 goals with none against.
The 00 boys went undefeated in pool play but unfortunately fell in the Championship.
Well done and congratulations!
